RWYC Asia and Africa Symposium
On October 25, 2025, we had the honor of serving as a speaker at the RWYC Asia and Africa Online Symposium, a global event organized by Prof. Olimpia Niglio, Mr. Paul Schafer, and Dr. Gireesh Kumar T.K. The symposium brought together cultural leaders and practitioners from Italy, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Somalia, and India to discuss the role of culture in shaping human identity, community resilience, and sustainable futures.
In my presentation titled “Building Identity through Cultural Workshops in Indonesia: Sharing Lessons Across Asia and Africa,” I shared the ongoing work of RWYC Indonesia in conducting cultural workshops for children and youth, cultural missions, and international collaborations. I also emphasized Indonesia’s unique contribution to Asia–Africa dialogue, drawing inspiration from the historic Bandung Spirit of 1955—when leaders of Asia and Africa gathered in Bandung to promote solidarity, decolonization, and cultural cooperation. I highlighted how this same spirit continues to guide our work today in strengthening cultural identity, fostering unity, and encouraging intercultural understanding.
The symposium provided a valuable platform where speakers from Ethiopia, Somalia, and India presented their experiences in cultural education, heritage healing, and youth empowerment. Together, we explored how cultural awakening can be a transformative force across continents, reinforcing RWYC’s mission to reconnect communities with their heritage. This collaborative event marked an important step in deepening Asia–Africa cultural cooperation and expanding the global network of Reconnecting With Your Culture.
