Moderator at The 15th Asia Pacific Conference of Human Genetics, Yogyakarta
In November 2025, we represented the Chakra Cultural Foundation at the 15th Asia Pacific Conference of Human Genetics (APCHG) held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Organized by the Indonesian Society of Human Genetics (InaSHG) in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Society of Human Genetics (APSHG), the conference brought together leading geneticists, researchers, clinicians, and global experts from across Asia, the Pacific, and beyond. The event continued the momentum of the previous APCHG in Tokyo and served as an important platform for scientific dialogue and regional collaboration.
As part of our role, we served as the Chair (Moderator) of Symposium XII: Population Genomics, held on November 8, 2025. In this session, we facilitated discussions on advancements in population genomics, enabling rich academic exchange among researchers focusing on genomic diversity, population datasets, and precision medicine. Our involvement also highlighted the contribution of interdisciplinary perspectives—integrating culture, identity, and population studies—to the evolving landscape of human genetics.
In addition to moderating duties, we actively engaged in networking sessions, bilateral discussions, and scientific meetings with genetics experts from Japan, South Korea, India, China, Australia, Southeast Asia, and other regions. Through these interactions, we identified several potential partners for future collaborative research programs, particularly in areas such as population genetics, cultural-genomic studies, and comparative genomic research grounded in local knowledge. Our participation at APCHG strengthened international connections and reaffirmed our commitment to contributing to Indonesia’s presence in the global genetics community.
